Charles Claxton (bishop)
Charles Robert Claxton (16 November 1903 – 7 March 1992) was the fourth Suffragan Bishop of WarringtonThe Times, 2 April 1946; pg. 6; Issue 50416; col G, ''Ecclesiastical News Consecration of the Bishop of Warrington''〕 later translated to the See of Blackburn.〔The Times, 21 June 1960; pg. 12; Issue 54803; col D, ''Two New Bishops Nominated Bath And Wells And Blackburn''〕
Claxton was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge〔“Who was Who” 1897-1990, London, A & C Black, 1991, ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕 He was ordained in 1928 and began his ordained ministry with London curacies before becoming Vicar of Holy Trinity, Bristol in 1933. He was then chaplain to the Bishop of Bristol before becoming the Suffragan Bishop of Warrington and then the diocesan Bishop of Blackburn. During his long retirement he was an honorary assistant bishop in the Diocese of Exeter. He died in Cheshire.
